NC Summertime Recipes, Category Cookout

Fire up your grill – it’s cookout season! It’s a little-known fact that the NC Collection at the Central Library has a good and plenty collection of local recipe books. Some are shiny and new, put out by a major publisher, while others are old and funky and put together up a scrappy family member who wanted to memorialize their family recipes. You can find congealed salad recipes from the 1970s or how to cook squirrel outside over a fire you built. What fun! Over the summer, we’d like to share with you some of the fun summer recipes we’ve found in just a portion of our collection. Each week for Summer Reading (June 9 to August 4), we’ll have a different category of recipes. This week it’s Cookout. Please enjoy and if you’d like a compiled PDF of the recipes listed below, you’ll find that at the end. Happy grilling! Oh, and don’t forget to check out other Summer Reading activities from the Forsyth County Public Library here: FCPL Summer Reading Programs Guide
