Spring has always been my favorite time of year, especially here in Texas. There are seas of bluebonnets everywhere you look and a late Texas sunset, with its shades of burnt orange, magenta and cotton candy pink are like none other.

And considering we will face 100+ degree days before I know it; I treasure and soak up as many of these blissful and breezy spring days as possible.

Since we love this time of year so much, we have been enjoying a lot of time outdoors, exploring our own backyard. Our back patio is truly an extension of our home and we love to sit out there and play, read books, tend to our garden, cook out on the grill and dine al fresco as we watch the sun set over the horizon.

I love grilling because it not only gathers our family together in the backyard to make, what I hope is life long memories, but also because the meals we prepare on our grill tend to be easier to throw together and make.

Since we’ve been obsessively grilling several days a week for a few months now, I’ve been placing regular curbside pickup orders at my local HEB. Not only can I add grilling essentials, like charcoal, to my grocery order, I restock pantry staples, like Texas Pete® Original Hot Sauce.

Texas Pete® comes in a variety of flavors, including Texas Pete® Original Hot Sauce, Texas Pete® Sautéed Garlic Flavor Hot Sauce and Texas Pete® Hotter Hot Sauce, which are all available via curbside pickup at HEB.

Specifically, the Texas Pete® Original Hot Sauce is a staple in my kitchen because we love to add it to everything from scrambled eggs, to tacos, and even add it to our favorite take out foods to spice things up.

But, the main reason Texas Pete® Original Hot Sauce is a favorite pantry staple is because it is the secret ingredient, that adds just the right pop of flavor, for so many of my favorite recipes. From many of my soup recipes, to my Bacon Ranch Deviled Eggs and this easy Grilled Lemon Lime Chicken.

Today’s Grilled Lemon Lime Chicken recipe is one that we’ve made for many years! In fact, this is my go-to chicken marinade recipe, as it uses pantry staples and the end results in a juicy, flavorful chicken that is perfect to throw on salads, serve with veggies or serve as tacos!

I look forward to many more relaxing dinners on our patio all season long and I’m curious, what’s your favorite thing to throw on the grill?

Helpful Grilled Lemon Lime Chicken Cooking Tips:
Grilled Lemon Lime Chicken Ingredient Substitutions:
Lemon/Lime Juice and Zest – This recipe calls for fresh lemon and lime juice, as well as zest. However, you could omit the zest and use bottled lemon and lime juice (1/2 cup of each) instead of fresh.

Honey – Brown sugar could be substituted for the honey used in this chicken recipe.

Chicken cutlets – Chicken thighs could also be used in this grilled chicken recipe.

Corn oil – Any high temperature cooking oil, such as corn oil, canola oil or grapeseed oil could be used in this recipe.

Make ahead tip:

Turn this recipe into a freezer meal by placing the chicken in a freezer safe food storage baggie. Add the prepared marinade, seal and freeze for up to three months.

Thaw chicken in the marinade in the refrigerator for about 24 hours or until chicken is completely thawed. Grill thawed chicken as directed in recipe below.
What to serve with Grilled Lemon Lime Chicken?
I like to serve this grilled chicken recipe with my Corn, Avocado and Tomato Salad (as seen in the picture below), but it would be equally delicious served with Cilantro Lime Rice and grilled vegetables.
