Commercial dryer sheets can be toxic, so I was very happy to find this DIY video tutorial by Buzz Feed Nifty, on YouTube, that described exactly how to make reusable dryer sponges at home

All you need to do to make these awesome dryer sponges is to mix your natural anti-static fabric softener in a container with a tightly sealable lid. Then you will add your sponges to the mixture. Your dryer sponges stay fresh and fully moist with the wonderfully smelling homemade mixture and they will be ready for use whenever you need them.
Materials & Ingredients For The Reusable Dryer Sponges: A pack of sponges A square container with a lid (Tupperware can work well) 1/2 cup of baking powder 1/2 cup of vinegar 1 cup of hot water 10 drops of essential oil (optional, but it can really add a lovely smell to your clean laundry) Directions:

Then, you will just add the sponges, close the lid, and shake. The dryer sponges will be ready whenever you need them. After you use each dryer sponge, just return it to the container and clothes the lid, then give it a good shake, and your sponge will be ready for next time.

This is a wonderful method of softening clothing. I really don’t like having toxic chemicals on my clothing and these dyer sponges are so perfect for my needs. I highly recommend this recipe, it really works and smells wonderful!
